Paul Lato Wines is a boutique, family-owned winery based in Santa Maria Valley, CA, producing world-class wines from California. We are looking for a hardworking, energetic, and very well-organized full time Accounting Manager to provide accounting, financial compliance, and some office management services, working directly with Paul Lato.

The candidate will be required to process accounts payable and accounts receivable, reconciliations and other compliance reporting, provide accounting support for sales, compliance and year-end audit requirements. The ideal candidate is a team player with positive attitude, is task oriented with exceptional attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, committed to high ethical and confidentiality standards, and is willing collaborate with other departments outside of accounting to meet the needs of the winery. Accounting experience is a must, elevated computer skills with in-depth knowledge of QuickBooks, payroll processing systems, and Excel are required, while experience with winery e-commerce and compliance systems (Winedirect, Sovos, etc) are highly desired.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

•  Accounts Payable:
o Manages and performs all accounts payable activities related to company expenses, invoices, credit cards and taxes.
•  Accounts Receivable:
o Manages and performs all accounts receivable activities related to company sales across wholesale, DTC and custom crush accounts, billings, payments, taxes,
o expenses, invoices, collections, etc.
•  Payroll:
o Manages and performs all activities related to payroll, 401K, new hire information, 401K, W-2s, etc
•  Inventory:
o Manages Inventory in QuickBooks, including bulk wine purchases, costing, bottlings, etc.
•  General Ledger:
o Performs reconciliations of all bank and credit card accounts,
o Assists CPA for mid-year analysis and tax filing, reconciles QuickBooks with CPA generated entries,
o Manages Insurance and Workers Comp, Health plan policy renewal process records in QuickBooks.
•  Financial Compliance:
o Manages DTC compliance and excise tax payments and Wholesale Compliance reporting.
•  Financial Reporting and Other
o Preparing Weekly Sales reports, assists with the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances.
o Sort and distribute incoming company mail, handle outgoing company mail (pickup/delivery).
o Assist with other projects and perform other tasks as may be assigned by the management.

Requirements:

•  5+ years of accounting experience,
•  Proficiency in QuickBooks Accountant,
•  3+ years winery and/or vineyard office experience,
•  Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
•  Knowledge of Wine Direct and Ship Compliant highly desired
•  Valid Driver’s License with clean record
•  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak, hear, stand, walk, and sit for long periods.


Work Environment

•  Professional onsite office environment in the winery.
•  A full-time position, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
