Job Description:

VineView is seeking a field research assistant to participate in data collection activities for ongoing research projects focused on the development, evaluation and commercialization of yield prediction models. This is an ideal position for students or recent graduates in viticulture, agronomy or plant science who are looking for hands-on experience in data collection and analysis.

Duties/Responsibilities
Collection of data related to grapevine yield (i.e. cluster counts/weights, Brix, etc).
Collection of gps data using VineView’s PinPoint RTK
Testing and validating new video technologies for improved vineyard management.
Data entry and organization.
Providing regular updates and reports.
Assisting with other field experiments as needed.

Experience
Experience in the collection of viticulture/agronomic datasets preferred.
Current students or recent graduates enrolled in a viticulture, agronomy or plant science program (BSc or MSc) at an accredited university or college are preferred.
Must have computer skills and know how to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with gis software and/or gps equipment/software preferred.

Required Skills/Abilities
Candidate is required to have a valid driver's license, a safe driving record and reliable vehicle at the time of hire. Required to drive to and from varying locations on a daily basis.
Must be organized and detail oriented, with the ability to work effectively and efficiently.
Must be willing to work outdoors in varying weather conditions for long periods of time performing physically demanding tasks (standing/walking for long periods of time,
crouching, lifting and carrying equipment).
Must have access to a laptop/desktop.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Must be 18 years or older.

Expected Hours of Work
Work will typically be between the hours of 8am and 4pm Monday through Friday. Some weekend work may be required.
