12th & Maple Wine Co. is currently looking for one more enthusiastic individual to join our lab team for Harvest 2025! This is a temporary position from September 2nd to sometime in November (exact end date TBD).
As a HARVEST LAB TECHNICIAN, you will work side-by-side with skilled staff in our fast-paced lab, gaining experience in all crucial harvest lab services, including (but not limited to):
• Analysis using wet chemistry and modern automated methods
• Processing maturity samples
• Monitoring and understanding wine’s progress throughout fermentation
• Preparation of tasting samples and bench trials
• General lab duties such as lab equipment maintenance and cleaning.
This position works variable hours up to 6 days per week, 12 hours per day during the peak of harvest. We strive to exceed our custom crush clients’ and winemaking staff’s expectations for accuracy, turn-around time, and adaptability—and have fun while doing it! With the smell of fermentation in the air, grape juice ending up in unexpected places, and the buzz of excited energy permeating the whole facility as everyone works together, racing against the rains to get all of the grapes processed… there’s nothing quite like a winery during the harvest season!
Qualifications:
A degree in enology or a related science is preferred, but not required. This position would be ideal for a recent wine or other biological/ chemical science grad who wants to apply what they have learned. Maybe you are a fermentation hobbyist who is interested in exploring the wine industry with a group who would love to hear you geek out about your projects or someone with cellar experience who is interested in furthering their lab knowledge. Enthusiasm goes a long way—if you want to learn, we want to teach you!
Beyond that, we like applicants who:
• Have a can-do attitude
• Are considerate teammates and responsible solo workers
• Have meticulous attention to detail
• Can lift 35 lbs, walk and stand for long periods of time, wear all safety gear, and work in cold, wet, and noisy environments
We provide competitive pay, comprehensive training, some harvest meals, and company events.
Lab not your thing? We also have several harvest cellar roles still available!
• Harvest Cellar Crew – Crush pad support, grape processing, pump-overs, roto-vac and centrifuge, wine racking, cleaning equipment and tanks.
• Adds team – Inoculations, additions to juice and wine, flotation, inventory monitoring.
