Responsibilities include managing, leading and executing all winemaking activities including viticulture practices, field sampling, picking decisions, harvest scheduling & organizing, reception of grapes, fermentation, aging, finishing and bottling. Design, conduct and evaluate all aspects of the winemaking process. Winemaker is also responsible for select marketing efforts including tastings and industry events. Work and collaborate with Vineyard Manager to actively promote improvements in the vineyards throughout the season.
Professional requirements include college degree, preferably a BS in Enology/Fermentation Science and/or Viticulture, and minimum 5 years winemaking, vineyard and management experience with decision making authority. Must be passionate for Rhone & Bordeaux-style wines. Ideal candidate will combine best of Old World and New World winemaking philosophies and techniques, and possess advanced wine tasting skills. Luxury, boutique production experience is a must, with a demonstrated attention to detail and a strong desire for and commitment to excellence. Requires strong verbal, written and presentation skills and ability to communicate effectively. Must have good computer skills and be proficient in Office & Outlook. Valid Driver’s license and good driving record required.
