Martinelli Winery is an established, family-owned winery located in the heart of the Russian River Valley. We specialize in estate grown Chardonnay, Pinot, Zinfandel, and Syrah. Our family has been growing grapes in the Russian River and on the Sonoma Coast for over 135 years. Our passion for small lot, artisan wines is evident with each bottle we produce. The ideal candidate for our cellar is passionate about helping us continue to raise the bar of excellence in all that we do. This position reports to the Cellar Supervisor and is responsible for helping execute daily basic and/or advanced cellar operations. This person works efficiently to meet wine quality expectations in a team-oriented environment.

Primary Job Duties:
•  Executes daily basic cellar operations including barrel maintenance, additions, topping, sampling, and sanitation.
•  May execute advanced cellar operations including presses, bulldog racking, and scissor lift with minimal guidance.
•  Works within the expectations of the company to meet wine quality, efficiently, and safety standards at all times, including active participation in meetings.
•  Provides input and learns SOPs for all cellar operations.
•  Reads and carries out winemaking requests/work orders as directed.
•  Safely perform forklift operations such as moving barrels and case goods with necessary training.
•  Execute pump-overs and punch-downs per work order during harvest.
•  Train and mentor seasonal employees in proper work techniques, SOP’s and safety.
•  Executes pre-bottling operations to ensure wine is bottle ready.

Additional Responsibilities:
•  Occasional work with the mobile bottling line. Set up and break down.
•  During harvest, act as a group leader of interns to ensure goals are met during your shift.
•  Learn and master every piece of equipment we use to become a teacher of others.

Qualifications:
•  4-6+ years’ experience in all phases of cellar work.
•  Degree or coursework in winemaking/fermentation sciences is a plus but not required.
•  Forklift experience desired
•  Commitment to work full-time plus extended hours during various periods of the year.
•  Ability to be highly organized with acute attention to details.
•  Ability to perform basic math.
•  Ability to communicate effectively in English.
•  Ability to multitask and work safely in a fast-paced environment.
•  Ability to work flexible and extended hours on short notice.
•  Must have a valid driver’s license with good driving record.
•  Must be at least 21 years of age and have legal United States work status.

Physical Requirements:
•  Heavy physical activity performing regular strenuous activities, including standing, walking, climbing, reaching, carrying, pushing, pulling, squatting, and other motions. Stability and balance adequate for elevated and/or narrow work areas. Requires lifting and moving objects up to 50 lbs. in weight independently.
