Job Description:

Castoro Cellars is currently seeking a Harvest Intern. This position will provide the opportunity to work closely with the winemaking and lab staff with an opportunity for advancement. The applicant must be flexible, professional, highly motivated, and able to manage multiple responsibilities, completing tasks efficiently with a high degree of accuracy. This individual will be required to work Monday through Friday during the off-season. Hours will increase during the harvest season to 6 days per week, September through November depending on the season.

Responsibilities include:
•  Perform daily brix and temperature monitoring on fermenting tanks
•  Pull daily samples for lab analysis
•  Sample incoming grape trucks
•  Weigh trucks (grape and tankers) in and out
•  Process and analyze vineyard grape samples for ripeness
•  Responsible for all daily analysis on juice, must, and wine samples. This includes: Brix, pH, TA, VA, alcohol, residual sugars, free and total sulfur, malic acid, YAN, and
various other analyses
•  Pull bulk wine samples for shipping
•  Properly maintain laboratory equipment and instruments
•  Maintain an organized and clean working environment
•  Responsible for bottling and canning line quality control; both wine and package integrity.
•  Legibly track, record, and enter data into Excel, TankNET, and Vintrace
•  Maintain client analysis records
•  Manage the order of laboratory chemicals and supplies
•  Other duties as assigned by the Winemaking Team.

Qualifications:
•  Previous winery experience is desired.
•  Degree in or currently enrolled in Enology, Viticulture, Microbiology, Chemistry, or related scientific field
•  English comprehension and communication skills essential. Spanish fluency a plus.
•  Strong math, science, and computation skills with accuracy required
•  Good computer skills, specifically Microsoft Excel and MS365 suite of applications.
•  Attention to detail and safety.
•  Ability to communicate well with others and work effectively both individually and as a team with demonstrated reliability and punctuality
•  Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage priorities and workflow.
•  Positive attitude with an eagerness to learn.
