Harvest Assistant

We are a small winery located in Seattle (SODO) that processes approximately 100 tons of exceptional fruit. We work with native yeast, sort and punch down by hand using many traditional techniques (we love stems). We use traditional low intervention techniques but would not describe ourselves as "natural". This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on cellar experience with a great team in a positive work environment. You would be assisting with many aspects of wine production and would be working on a small team completing an array of critical harvest tasks from harvest preparations, fruit processing, cleaning, pressing, barreling down, etc.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT:
•  Ability to work early mornings and late nights, including weekends
•  Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights.
•  Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb stairs and ladders, bend, lift, twist, kneel, crouch, crawl, pull, push, carry, grasp, reach and stoop as needed and sometimes for extended periods
•  Ability to perform strenuous physical tasks, such as bending, lifting, punching down
•  Ability to lift 50 lbs. repeatedly
•  Ability to work with chemicals that require protective equipment (goggles, gloves, etc.)
•  Ability to sit, stand, and walk on uneven surfaces for extended periods of time
•  Ability to perform work duties inside and outdoors

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

•  Previous harvest or winery experience is a plus but if you've survived in the restaurant world you get it.
•  Ability to commit to working full-time plus hours, we are at the service of the grapes.
•  Must be able to communicate in English and possess good reading, writing and basic arithmetic skills.
•  Must be able to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules and Standard Operating Procedures.
•  A positive attitude, and the ability to function well as part of a multitasking hive-mind.
•  Must be able to work safely around equipment, electrical outlets and chemicals.
•  Must be reliable, possess a good work ethic, must be organized, flexible and pay attention.
•  Reliable transportation to and from the job site.
•  Ability to operate various types of equipment/machinery including, but not limited to, forklifts, pumps, presses and pallet jacks.
•  Must be at least 21 years of age and have legal United States work status
