Disaronno International is Named Exclusive U.S. Importer of Florio Marsala

Posted on January 13, 2020

Somerset, N.J.—Disaronno International is delighted to announce the addition of Florio Marsala from Sicily to its portfolio of wines & spirits. The NJ-based importer will assume sales and marketing for Florio effective February 1st, taking over from previous importer, Banfi Vintners.

Florio is one of the largest and oldest producers of Marsala in Sicily, with a longstanding historical presence on the island. Established in 1832 by Vincenzo Florio, the brand has become a market leader in production of Marsala and fortified wines from the western part of Sicily. Marsala is deeply rooted in Sicilian culture and heritage, and the Florio name has become synonymous with the region for the last two centuries.

Expansion into premium-level Marsala comes at the perfect time for Disaronno International as the company is committed to offering quality wines and spirits across several categories.  “Disaronno International is very excited about the opportunity to focus on Florio Marsala in the market and further develop the import and distribution of the brand in the U.S.,” says Raymond Stoughton, Executive Vice President & General Manager of Disaronno International. “With the continued appreciation of wines and culture from Sicily, we see this as a strategic opportunity to market one of the greatest producers ever known to the island as well as re-establish Florio as a premium Marsala & wine brand.”

Disaronno International will launch Florio Sweet & Dry Marsala Superiore (SRP $16.99) nationally, with plans to roll-out premium offerings that include the Grecale, Targa Riserva and Florio Fernet. The Florio line will also undergo a packaging refresh in 2020 that is more in-line with the brand’s historical & cultural significance.
