Hope Family Wines Selects Pulsair Systems for a 25-tank Cap Management Solution

Posted on July 27, 2020

Kirkland, WA – Pulsair Systems, Inc. today announced that Hope Family Wines, is choosing Pulsair’s efficient multi-tank air mixing solution to manage red grape caps in 25 red fermentation tanks.  Pulsair is providing cap management mixing equipment, engineering, training and a Pulsair Pneumatage multi-tank touchscreen mixing controller for Hope Family Wines in Paso Robles CA.

Starting with the Treana wine label in 1995, Hope Family Wines now consists of five individual brands: Liberty School, Treana, Quest, Troublemaker and Austin Hope.   As premium wine producer, Hope Family Wine seeks to produce the highest quality wines for the Paso Robles region as recently reflected with their award winning Austin Hope 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon earning an outstanding Wine Enthusiast 97 point score– the highest score ever awarded to a Paso Robles cabernet sauvignon from the magazine.

“We know that Pulsair’s innovative air mixing process for cap management is proven to deliver consistent, high quality winemaking results,” said Jason ‘JC’ Diefenderfer, Director of Winemaking at Hope Family Wines.  “Maintaining our high winemaking standards is paramount and there are no tradeoffs in wine quality using Pulsair as our primary method for managing the caps.  Process efficiency and the safety for our entire staff are also top priories here during harvest time that Pulsair will help address.  We know from our winery partners that Pulsair’s track record for high quality craftmanship, service and reliability are second to none.”

“We are thrilled to be working with Hope Family Wines and being selected to manage their red wine grape caps in their new winery, said John Parks, Pulsair’s General Manager.  “Hope Family Wines is committed to producing the highest quality cabernet sauvignon wines in California’s biggest and most diverse wine growing region.  Austin Hope and his staff at Hope Family Wines are leading the way to help recognize the Paso Robles AVA and it’s 11 sub AVAs as a world-class winemaking region.  Pulsair fits in perfectly with Hope Family Wine’s goal of producing high quality wines on a large scale, improving efficiency and creating a safe working environment.”

Pulsair’s gentle air mixing process for primary fermentation and wine tank mixing works by sequentially pulsing in large bursts of modulated air or gas bubbles beneath the cap.  The large air bubbles push and pull the juice up into and over the top of the grape cap to gentle dissolve, liquefy and uncompact the skin pomace yielding a healthier and less reductive fermentation.  Uniform temperature and the expelling of heat, CO2 and H2S gases creates a more healthy environment for the yeast bodies and for enhancing the infusion of phenolics, aiding tannin development and extraction of color and flavors.

The patented Pulsair Systems air mixing process, first used in the wine industry in 1988, can be used in any size or geometrically shaped fermentation tank.  Pulsair offers air and gas mixing equipment solutions for any size winery and any size tank.   Pulsair offers a wide range of portable, mobile and permanent air mixing solutions for barrels, 1-2 ton macrobin and fermentation tanks of any size or number.

Hope Family Wines, located in Paso Robles, California, is a leader in the wine region.  It has earned a reputation as one of the premier wine producers crafting the best tasting wines that express the terroir and flavor profile of the grapes.  Hope Family Wines is recognized for their focus on Cabernet Sauvignon as well as Estate Rhone wines.
