Mavrik North America Announces COVID-19 Cost Deferral Plan to Support Wineries

MAVRIK NORTH AMERICA PRESS RELEASE

Santa Rosa, CA (April 20, 2020) Since early March, Mavrik North America has had a COVID-19 policy in place for the safety of their employees, customers, and vendors. Now they look toward what role they can play in helping the wine industry recover from these difficult times and get back to business as usual.

“A lot of wineries have delayed bottling and other winemaking activities during the shelter-in-place order,” said Mavrik’s Winemaker and Operations Director, Mariana Brown.

Mavrik plays a big role in getting wine ready for bottling, from reducing volatile acidity, alcohol, brett and more to their newest offering, crossflow filtration. Although wineries are essential businesses, they’ve faced tasting room closures and other disruptions, resulting in furloughs, layoffs and scaled back capex. As they try to clear tanks and prepare for harvest, they are simultaneously going to face expenditures for bringing back furloughed workers, purchasing bottling supplies, repairing harvest equipment, and the like, in the wake of interrupted revenue.

“We really wanted to find a way to help the industry get back on its feet and accomplish everything needed before harvest starts,” said Mavrik’s President, Bob Kreisher. “The best way we felt we could contribute is to help ease the cash flow demands wineries will face,” he added.

Mavrik’s solution is designed to defer some expenses until cash flow normalizes. For service work they perform for their customers in May and June, customers can ask for a relaxed payment arrangement. Fifty percent will be due on standard terms. But the remaining 50 percent won’t be due for 60 days, interest free. This will help to align wineries’ revenue and expenses.
