Zepponi & Company Advises on Sale of Luxury Geyserville Winery

Posted on April 27, 2017

Zepponi & Company, a leading merger and acquisition advisory firm dedicated to the beverage alcohol industry, served as the exclusive financial advisor to Silver Oak Cellars in the sale of their Geyserville winery facility. No brands or inventory were included in the transaction.

The Geyserville winery functioned as the production facility for Silver Oak's renowned Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon wine program for vintages 1992 through 2016. Originally constructed as Lyeth Winery in 1982, the buildings underwent extensive elegant renovations during Silver Oak's tenure. With its beautiful furnishings and state-of-the-art winemaking equipment, the grounds feature a 32,000 square foot wine production facility optimized for fine wine production, over 10,000 square feet of hospitality space, and 12 acres of vineyards planted to Cabernet Sauvignon. The sale by Silver Oak coincides with the completion of their new Alexander Valley winery on the site of the formal Sausal Vineyard and Winery. This newly constructed winery will be used to produce the upcoming 2017 vintage of Silver Oak's Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon.

Based in Lodi, California, Michael David Winery was founded by brothers Michael and David Phillips, whose family has been cultivating wine grapes in the Lodi region for nearly a century. Most notably, Michael David Winery produces the prominent Lodi wine brand 7 Deadly Zins. The Geyserville winery purchase marks Michael David's expansion into the Sonoma County luxury winemaking community, with plans to bottle their first Sonoma County wines from this upcoming harvest.
