Zepponi & Company Advises on Sale of Anderson Valley Winery

Posted on August 11, 2016

Zepponi & Company, a leading merger and acquisition advisory firm dedicated to the global beverage alcohol industry, served as the exclusive financial advisor to Knez Winery (“Knez”) on the sale of its vineyard estate to Kosta Browne Winery (“Kosta Browne”). Knez is heralded as one of Anderson Valley’s premiere Pinot Noir winemaking estates. The estate is approximately 380 acres, and includes a winery facility and approximately 60 highly acclaimed vineyard acres. The proprietors excluded the Knez brand from the transaction.

The vineyards are farmed with the intent of creating wines that are true extensions of the land. Since its inception, the grapes from the property have successfully produced quality, vineyard designate wines that represent a sense of place and a commitment to sustainability. The grapes from the property create impressive Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines, as expressive and complex as those from the Burgundy region of France.

Kosta Browne is recognized for producing ‘cult’ status Pinot Noir from the best appellations in California. Established in 1997 by Dan Kosta and Michael Browne, the California winery has long been recognized for producing distinctive luxury tier, highly sought-after Pinot Noir wines. The Knez estate acquisition is consistent with Kosta Browne’s commitment to producing prestigious terroir-based wines from renowned growing regions.
