Expo Pack México Features Fresh Flooring for Food Facilities

Posted on April 27, 2015

The resin flooring experts at Flowcrete Mexicana, part of the global Flowcrete Group, will be demonstrating the ultra-hygienic cementitious urethane solution Flowfresh to the sector at booth 5606.

The antibacterial Polygiene® additive is homogenously distributed throughout every Flowfresh system, empowering the floor with the ability to eliminate up to 99.9% of bacteria.

Polygiene® utilises the bactericidal properties of silver and its effectiveness has been proven to meet the ISO 22196 standard for measuring a surface’s antibacterial ability. No other flooring material harnesses natural silver in the same way, as Flowfresh has been developed in an exclusive global partnership with Polygiene®.

Independently verified testing has compared the ability of Flowfresh to minimise the bacterial population on the floor’s surface with alternative flooring materials. This proved that over 24 hours the bacterial population on a Flowfresh floor approaches zero, while on a standard polyurethane floor it has remained largely the same and on a polypropylene floor the amount of bacteria significantly increased.

The seamless and impervious surface Flowfresh creates means that contaminants will be unable to hide in hard to clean gaps and will instead be easily washed out of the area. The hard wearing nature of a thick cementitious urethane floor avoids cracks, failures and flaws that would tarnish a site’s hygienic integrity.

The general manager of Flowcrete Mexicana, Roel Rodriguez, said: “The Flowfresh range has been designed to work alongside the on-site cleaning regime to create a clean and safe working environment that surpasses regulatory requirements.

“The durability of these cementitious urethane floors means that they will be able to maintain a high quality and easy to clean surface despite the inherent challenges that a production facility will throw at its floor finish – including heavy impacts, chemical attack, thermal shock, foot traffic and forklift truck movement.”

“The Flowcrete Mexicana team at Expo Pack México 2015 will be able to talk to facilities managers and developers about how Flowfresh can be tailored to meet the specific demands of their facility.”

The customisable, high-performance nature of Flowfresh has made it a popular choice across the global food and beverage industry, with many high-profile brands such as Ocean Spray, Kraft Foods and Samuel Adams choosing to install it within large-scale production and processing facilities.

Cargill have utilised the exceptionally durable Flowfresh HF system to create floors able to maintain a contaminant free space despite the intense workload within its meat processing facilities and Coca Cola have frequently turned to Flowfresh when looking for a floor finish that won’t fail when faced with heavy equipment and spillages of sugary liquids.

Visitors to Expo Pack México will also be able to find out about how Flowcrete Mexicana’s recently established headquarters in Mexico City and warehouse in Monterrey will reduce turnaround times for clients through local invoicing and access to a locally available inventory.
