Kim Stemler to Lead Monterey County Vintners & Growers Association

Posted on July 23, 2013

The Monterey County Vintners & Growers Association (MCVGA) is proud to announce the hiring of their new Executive Director, Kim Stemler. In February, MCVGA members embraced a new vision for the organization that focuses locally through enhanced relations with strategic partnerships and places emphasis on supporting a unified brand Monterey. After an extensive selection process, Stemler has stood out as the ideal candidate to join the organization and continue to build upon this new vision.

Stemler earned her Masters Degree in Administrative Science from The Johns Hopkins University and was the Policy and Communications Director for First 5 Monterey County. She has also operated her own management consulting practice for over 14 years and brings more than 20 years of successful leadership experience in management, organizational development, strategic planning, marketing and communications to the MCVGA. Her leadership in the community led to the Commission on the Status of Women selecting her as an Outstanding Woman of Monterey County in 2011. Beyond her professional commitments, Stemler has also maintained an active role as a long-standing member of the Rotary Club of Monterey.

“I am both delighted and honored to be the new Executive Director of the Monterey County Vintners & Growers Association,” Stemler said. “This is an exciting time for the Monterey County wine industry. I look forward to thoughtfully growing the organization and working with the growers, vintners, and other partners to increase brand recognition of Monterey County wine and grapes on local, national and international levels.”

Paul Johnson, Chairman of the Monterey County Vintners & Growers Association Board of Directors, elaborated on her selection, “The Board of Directors set the organization’s strategic direction to focus locally and build upon strategic alliances that will help sell more Monterey County wines. Kim provides our organization the leadership necessary to fulfill this direction. I look forward to working with her to move Monterey wines to the next level.”

Stemler will begin full time with the MCVGA on August 14, but has already taken a proactive approach in becoming immediately involved in the organization’s upcoming event, the Winemakers’ Celebration to be held on August 10. Her diverse range of skills and experience working as a leader of organizations generates much excitement for the future for the vintners and growers of Monterey County.
