Portocork Hires Erick Rojas as Operations Manager

Posted on August 11, 2011

Portocork, North America’s premier supplier of natural cork stoppers for the wine industry, announces today the addition of Erick Rojas to the position of Operations Manager. In this newly created position, Erick will be responsible for all aspects of Portocork’s production operations.

“Erick brings extensive experience and knowledge to this newly created position” says Dustin Mowe, President of Portocork. “His insight into the intricacies of production and supply chain as well as his knowledge of the natural cork business will be an invaluable asset to me and the rest of our team.”
After graduating with a degree in Chemistry from Universidad de Costa Rica Erick spent many years moving through various Quality, logistics and Operations Management roles with the Coca Cola Company. Once Erick relocated to Northern California he joined a company in the cork industry where he spent several years working his way from Production Manager to General Manager.

Since 1983, Portocork has been the leading supplier of natural cork to the American wine market. With quality assurance standards that are second to none, Portocork remains committed to only natural cork against market pressure to diversify into alternative products. Portocork was the first cork producer to develop a full quality assurance lab in the United States and one of the first to purchase and install a gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) machine that analyzes every single cork bale for TCA in Portugal.
