Posted on May 19, 2011

The Walla Walla Valley Wine Alliance is pleased to announce the appointment of Duane Wollmuth as Executive Director.

Mr. Wollmuth will be responsible for executing the strategic plans, marketing initiatives, and administration of the Alliance. In addition, he will serve as a liaison with other partners and associations on promotions, advocacy, research, and education.

“We are very pleased to have Duane join us at the Alliance. He brings a diverse perspective from within the wine industry and from his previous professional experience,” said Devin Stinger, Alliance President and owner of Adamant Cellars. “We are excited to have Duane as our strategic leader and administrator for the 80 plus member wineries and vineyards. His leadership will help to enhance consensus and collaboration amongst the Walla Walla Valley's winegrowers and vintners."

Duane brings robust experience in strategic leadership and business planning from Walla Walla Wines LLC in Eastern Washington and more recently as Executive Director of the Southeast Washington Economic Development Association. In his most latest executive position, Duane, operating under the guidance of two separate board of directors, developed and led annual and long-term regional economic development and transportation planning for a four-county region, coordinated strategic planning and spearheaded day-to-day operations relating to business recruitment, retention, start-up, and expansion. He facilitated regional communications through social media, quarterly newsletters, community presentations, and the internet.” I am honored to join the Walla Walla Wine Alliance to further promote the growth of the Walla Walla Valley and Washington wine industry,” Wollmuth said. “In conjunction with the board, staff, and wine community, my goal will be to leverage partnerships, showcase the economic importance, and the innovative and unique spirit of the Walla Walla wine region. I am excited about the opportunity and look forward to helping the Alliance exceed its goals.”

The selection and following appointment of the Executive Director is the result of an extensive search process involving a search committee comprised of WWVWA members and community leaders, with the assistance of Benchmark Consulting, a leading executive search firm in the wine industry.

“Duane is an individual of exceptional achievement. His dynamic personality will open many new doors and build bridges around the state and nationally to further strengthen our organization. He is an administrator whose personal sensitivity will draw the best from his staff and board members,” said Stinger.
