CRU Winery Expands Team with Four New Hires

MADERA, CA (July 26, 2021) - CRU Winery is pleased to share that they have expanded their team to add four new employees, including two additions to the winemaking team just in time for the 2021 harvest.

Robert Arroyo joins CRU Winery as Cellar Master. With over 17 years of experience in cellar management and enology, specifically focusing on wines from the Central Coast, Arroyo brings with him expertise learned at leading California wineries, including Constellation Brands and The Wine Group.  His background in crafting high-end wines and degree in Enology make him an ideal addition as CRU Winery continues to elevate their wine program. Arroyo will work closely with CRU winemaker Jose Reyes to produce award-winning wines while also managing the day-to-day operations of the cellar.

Tori Underwood is the newest addition to the CRU Winery team joining as Enologist. Underwood was previously at Sonoma-Cutrer Vineyards where she honed her skills in enology and quality control. In addition to her experience in Sonoma County, Underwood has also worked internationally spending a harvest in New Zealand furthering her passion for producing world-class wines.

Chris Mericle joins as the Tasting Room Manager at the CRU Winery Central Valley (Madera) location. Mericle has spent his career selling wine and providing customers with exemplary wine experiences. His well-rounded experience in production operations, vineyard management and wholesale wine sales combined with a degree in Viticulture and Enology from U.C. Davis, make him a natural fit to oversee and guarantee excellent customer experiences.

Michael Melgoza joins CRU Winery to run the new tasting room in the Santa Lucia Highlands. Melgoza’s background in restaurant management, including running food and beverage operations for Michelin-starred Mourad restaurant in San Francisco, and sales management positions with several renowned wineries and distributors, has positioned him to provide excellent customer experiences while also managing grand opening responsibilities of the new tasting room.
