Healdsburg, California (May 6, 2021) – Gary Farrell Winery has promoted Theresa Heredia to Director of Winemaking. She has been Winemaker for Gary Farrell Winery for the last nine years and has received extensive accolades and acclaim for her wines.

“Theresa is a supremely talented winemaker and leader, and she has made invaluable contributions to the winery’s success over the past nine years,” noted Nancy Bailey, General Manager for Gary Farrell Winery. “We are fortunate to have her on the team. This promotion is very well deserved!”

Heredia joined Gary Farrell Winery in 2012 and immediately made an impact with her focus on wines of impeccable balance, textural richness and site specificity. She developed strong relationships with the 30+ growers that Gary Farrell Winery works with, and she has been an articulate and engaging ambassador for the winery. Last year she was nominated as Winemaker of the Year by Wine Enthusiast, and the winery has received numerous other accolades for her winemaking, including “Top 50 Sonoma Producer” from Wine Spectator, 2020 and 2019 “Top 100 Winery” from Wine & Spirits, the #1 wine in the Wine Enthusiast “Top 100 Wines of 2017.”

Gary Farrell Winery is located on Westside Road in the heart of the Russian River Valley and specializes in Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from top vineyards in the Russian River Valley and other regions of California.

About Gary Farrell Winery

Gary Farrell Winery was founded in 1982 by Gary Farrell, who was a pioneer in the Russian River Valley wine region. For more than 30 years, Gary Farrell Winery has crafted small-lot artisan wines that capture the balance and stylistic elegance of some of the finest vineyard sites in the region. Farrell sold the winery in 2004, and today the winery is owned by Bill Price, the managing partner of Kistler Vineyard and owner of Three Sticks and The Adobe, Lutum and the famed Durell and Gap’s Crown vineyards; and a group of investors including Pete Scott, the former CFO of Beringer Wine Estates; and Walt Klenz; former president and CEO of Beringer Wine Estates. Winemaker Theresa Heredia is nurturing Gary Farrell’s legacy of producing small lots of Burgundian-styled, varietally expressive and regionally distinctive Russian River Valley Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.  Additional information on the winery is available at
