Beck Family Estates Hires Heath Payne as Viticulturalist
McMinnville, OR (April 14, 2020) – Beck Family Estates, the exclusive importer and sales agency for sparkling wine house Graham Beck and Steenberg Vineyards, both from South Africa, as well as Angela Estate and the forthcoming Abbott Claim from Oregon, announces their newly appointed Viticulturalist, Heath Payne.
In his new role as Viticulturalist, Payne works closely with winemaker Alban Debeaulieu on vineyard management, regenerative agriculture and grape sourcing for the Angela Estate and the forthcoming Abbott Claim label to be launched later in 2020. He is based in the Yamhill-Carlton AVA of Oregon’s Willamette Valley.
Payne’s interest in organic farming and regenerative agriculture was sparked while working for a certified organic farm near his hometown of Prescott, in Arizona’s high desert. This led him to a harvest internship in the South of France, then a move to Salem, Oregon where he earned dual Associated Applied Science degrees in Viticulture as well as Wine Science and Production at Chemeketa Community College.
Prior to joining Beck Family Estates, Payne was Assistant Winemaker at Oregon’s Bethel Heights.
