Troon Vineyard Appoints Nate Wall as Winemaker
Troon Vineyard proprietors Dr. Bryan and Denise White are pleased to announce the appointment of Nate Wall as winemaker for their estate vineyard in Oregon’s Applegate Valley. “With the mind of a scientist and the creativity of an artist, we are excited to have Nate Wall at the winemaker's helm at Troon Vineyard,” commented Dr. White.
Wall served for the last year as associate winemaker at Troon Vineyard and dramatically improved winemaking and cellar practices. He has also led the project to convert Troon Vineyard to biodynamic agriculture and winemaking and Troon is set to receive its first Demeter Biodynamic® and C.C.O.F. Organic certifications this year. "I am very excited to expand my role with Troon Vineyard, and to continue using minimalist winemaking practices to craft authentic wines that reveal the exceptional potential of the Applegate Valley," said Wall. “This is just a fantastic opportunity to work with Bryan and Denise White and such an incredible group of people at Troon toward the shared vision of world-class wines.”
Wall has an M.S. Degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley and a B.S. Degree in Biology from Eckerd College in Florida. Prior to arriving at Troon Vineyard he was assistant winemaker and general manager at Day Camp Wines in Dundee Oregon and assistant winemaker at Edgefield Winery in Troutdale Oregon. These positions were proceeded by cellar work at some of Oregon’s most prestigious wineries including Andrew Rich Wines, Grochau Cellars and Beaux Frères Vineyards and Winery. Before changing careers and becoming a winemaker he served as the Environmental Specialist for the City of Rockville MD, Environmental Engineer for Oakland CA and as a Biologist for the U.S. Geological Survey.
“Nate brings tremendous energy and focus to Troon. We have literally recreated Troon Vineyard in the last two years and his passion and creativity will elevate our wines to the quality we have envisioned and beyond,” says Troon Vineyard general manager Craig Camp
