Marijuana industry brings on VP of Operations from Naked WInes

Posted on July 06, 2017

The former VP of Operations at Naked Wines has taken a role as the CEO of Big Moon Sky, California’s first online-only dispensary providing curated cannabis products shipped direct to your home.

Leveraging over two decades of experience in the wine industry, Crafton will help Big Moon Sky create a safe and secure marketplace to purchase highly curated, artisanal cannabis products for Californians.

Until now, the wine industry has focused heavily on how cannabis will compete over field labor at the production end and over wallet share at the consumer end. The Big Moon Sky launch demonstrates that the cannabis industry is also going to poach top talent from wineries who share many of the same obstacles as cannabis producers.

“The two biggest headaches when buying marijuana and marijuana products are the overwhelming number of options for a beginner and the deeply alienating culture surrounding the industry”, says Zack Crafton, “and Big Moon Sky seeks to solve both of these problems.”

Crafton leans heavily on his experience as the VP of Operations for Naked Wines - a business that grew to over $80M in its first five years and quickly became the country’s largest 100% direct-to-consumer winery.

“The same barriers that plagued wine consumers for years will be obstacles for the burgeoning cannabis industry. We plan on removing those barriers for our customers.”

Big Moon Sky’s launch follows closely after the announcement that Flow Kana was buying Fetzer’s former Mendocino winery and represents the growing footprint of the cannabis industry in wine country.

While the company remains secretive around specific business plans, they are currently accepting signups for their soft launch on their website. Sign up today at
