GARZÓN, Uruguay (February 9, 2016) – Bodega Garzón, a boutique winery of international vintner Alejandro P. Bulgheroni, located in the idyllic Uruguay countryside, today announced the appointment of Christian Wylie to the position of general manager. Based in Garzón, Wylie will continue to grow the winery’s strong brand presence, working across the business in many different areas, including operations, marketing, sales management, and hospitality and tourism activities. With more than fifteen years of experience in the wine industry, including various senior leadership positions, he is well-equipped to handle this integral role at Bodega Garzón.

“We are thrilled to have Christian join the team,” said Bulgheroni. “His impressive wine industry and leadership experience, along with his contagious enthusiasm and passion for fine wines, will greatly benefit us as we approach the public grand opening of the winery this spring. Ultimately, our goal is to introduce our wines from this special place to consumers around the world, and Christian will play an important role in our continued growth.”

Wylie has extensive experience in the South American wine industry, including senior leadership roles at Carolina Wine Brands (Chile) and Establecimiento Juanicó (Uruguay), among others. He holds an agricultural engineering degree with a specialization in fruticulture and enology from the Catholic University of Chile, has studied at U.C. Davis, California, and completed a post-graduate senior management program at ESE Business School in Chile.

About Bodega Garzón

Bodega Garzón is an emergent family estate in the idyllic country of Uruguay, pioneered by Alejandro P. Bulgheroni that produces limited-production premium wines from estate-grown, sustainably-farmed grapes. Unique in the region, Bodega Garzón is leading the charge in winemaking innovation, varietal experimentation, and sustainability. Although focused primarily on Tannat, Uruguay’s national grape, Bodega Garzón works with many other varietals and clones. It is one of the few producers of Albariño in the country.

On track to open in March 2016, Bodega Garzón will set new benchmarks for elegance of design, modern technology and sustainable practices. Bodega Garzón is the first winery in the world seeking LEED certification for the entire facility, including winemaking and hospitality.
