Elena Matt Joins Dalla Terra Winery Direct as New York/New Jersey Regional Manager

Posted on November 16, 2015

(November 16, 2015; Napa, Calif.)—Dalla Terra Winery Direct® Founder Brian Larky and President Dave Holt are pleased to announce that Elena Matt has joined its sales team as New York/New Jersey regional manager. Elena recently spent six years as New York sales representative for VIAS Imports and brings a wealth of experience to the Dalla Terra team in both Italian wines and the New York market.

"We're thrilled to have Elena join the Dalla Terra family," says Brian Larky. "Her family and I go way back. I met her Dad for the first time in 1986 when I was working at Ca' Del Bosco in Franciacorta and we became friends beyond the wine business, including backcountry ski trips in the Alps. I know her roots and her values, which together with her experience in New York and extensive knowledge of Italian wines, makes her an asset for us in such an important market."

A native New Yorker and an Italian by blood, Elena Matt has a strong passion for the world of Italian wine and culture. After gaining hospitality experience working in several New York restaurants, including a year at Gramercy Tavern in 2004, Elena had a strong desire to get in touch with her Italian roots. In 2005, she moved to Verona, Italy and worked as a tasting room coordinator at Tommasi. After a year, she returned to New York and dove headfirst into wine distribution and sales, with four years at Monarchia Matt International followed by her position as New York sales representative for VIAS Imports.

About Dalla Terra Winery Direct®

The Dalla Terra Winery Direct® roster reads like a who's who of some of the most esteemed family-owned wineries in Italy. Each producer has played a major role in the significant strides Italy has made over the last twenty years in improving the quality of its wines. Dalla Terra Winery Direct® is changing the nature of the wine importing and distribution business. The company's unique business model skips the national importer level in the three-tier distribution system, allowing U.S. distributors to buy directly from the producer. Dalla Terra's business model offers a more efficient, economical and consumer-friendly way of shipping, distributing and marketing wine, eliminating on average 20- to 25% in markups on each bottle. While Dalla Terra's services are sought after by winemakers all over Italy because of the company's economically competitive edge, producers are also attracted by the company's commitment to highlighting individuality by choosing to work with only a few top producers from each wine-growing region in Italy. Founder Brian Larky considers each of the producers he works with part of a roundtable on innovation and quality, at which each producer has a voice. In 2009, Wine Enthusiast nominated Dalla Terra for Importer of the Year for its annual Wine Star Awards. On January 24, 2011, Larky was inducted into the Italian Trade Commission's Wines of Italy Hall of Fame at the opening reception for Vino 2011 at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York, NY. This marks the highest level of distinction presented by the Italian government to wine industry leaders. In 2014, Garofoli, the oldest family-owned winery in the Marche region of Italy, joined the Dalla Terra portfolio.
