Red Mountain AVA Alliance Executive Director Resigns
The Red Mountain AVA Alliance Board today announced the resignation of Heather Unwin as executive director, effective June 26. Unwin gave her resignation during the Alliance’s June board of directors meeting.
Unwin is leaving the position to concentrate on her consulting and teaching career.
She will serve as a consultant to the Alliance until a new executive director is hired. The search for a new executive director is underway.
“We will miss Heather’s experience, intelligence, and dedication. Heather helped steward this organization through a dynamic growth period and through an evolution of the organization’s focus. She strove tirelessly to strengthen relationships with the local community, the Washington Wine Commission and with the media,” said Red Mountain AVA Alliance Board President Tim Hightower.
“Heather was also instrumental in developing and executing educational and promotional programs and events for trade, media, and lovers of Red Mountain wine. We will miss her and wish her well for the future.”
Unwin commented, “I have been honored to work with the members and friends of the Alliance and to tell the story of why the Red Mountain AVA is so special. I will look forward to each new vintage right along with all fans of Red Mountain AVA wines.”
