Longtime Microsoft executive Marty Taucher attracted attention ahead of the first crush in 2010 for Avennia Winery by partnering with acclaimed Chris Peterson winemaker on their new project in Woodinville, Wash. This month, Taucher, Peterson and their wives added another feature to their business by purchasing Tapteil Vineyard from Larry and Jane Pearson. It will be Avennia's first estate vineyard, and it includes 22 acres, a tasting room, small production facility and the Pearsons's 5,600-square-foot house near Sunset Road.


The owners of Bordeaux First Growth Haut-Brion have expanded their vineyard holdings in the Right Bank, with the purchase of St-Emilion estate Château Grand Pontet. The family-owned company agreed to purchase the 28-hectare St-Emilion estate for an undisclosed sum with Count Leo de Malet-Roquefort, the owner of Premier Grands Crus Classé B estate La Gaffeliere.


Equity Wine is an Ontario private corporation with wineries in Jordan Station and St. David's Ontario. Its two wineries, Creekside and Queenston Mile, also produce Red Tractor Wines, Rood Apples Cider and have the rights to produce and distribute Proud Pour Wines.


Dusky Goose's longtime founding winemaker Lynn Penner-Ash will continue to oversee production and will be joined by newly appointed winemaker Hans Van Dale. The new production facility was previously home to Craft Wine Company.

The proprietors of Napa Valley's Arrow&Branch Estate Vineyard ( in Coombsville, Steve and Seanne Contursi, have purchased the 10-acre Williamson Family Vineyard in the Oak Knoll District that produces wines under the name Ideology Cellars.


The long-delayed $1.1 billion transaction will include the Clos du Bois winery in Geyserville and the Ravenswood and Mark West brands.

This Amador County winery, like many rural luxury properties these days, could go quickly.


Going forward, the focus will be on continuing the legacy created by the Coppola and Weaver families while introducing innovative production methods, including the use of a variety of fermentation vessels and a focus on unique wines. Alex Pagon, Managing Partner of Third Leaf Wines, announced that Toad Hollow Vineyards will join Third Leaf's stable of brands beginning May 1, 2020. Third Leaf Wines owns and represents such iconic brands as Mulderbosch from Stellenbosch, South Africa; Empire Estate, and Vinny from Finger Lakes, NY; Waters from Walla Walla, WA; and ENTER.Sake from Japan.


Much of the vineyard was planted in the 1950s with various sections replanted over the years. Approximately 15 acres of original head-pruned Zinfandel and Petite Sirah, grafted on St. George rootstock, have been dry-farmed for more than 75 years. Shannon Ridge plans to maintain these techniques.


Integrated Beverage Group (IBG) announced today that it has acquired Ransom Wine Co. & Distillery in Oregon's Willamette Valley in partnership with Ransom Founder, Tad Seestedt. The transaction closed on February 28 and exact terms were not made public. Zepponi and Company served as the financial advisor to Ransom Distillery and Winery.


Distant Cellars, a vineyard at 21390 Ostrom Road in Fiddletown, is listed for sale for $1.5 million. It started as an investment property for Steven Gaiser, whose previous career was in real estate, and his four sons. He purchased the 9.56-acre property, which at the time was called Frenz Vineyard and Winery, and began making improvements in 2012.
