Guillaume Deglise, who has been at the helm of Vinexpo for five years, will leave the company after Vinexpo Hong Kong which takes place from May 29 to 31, 2018. He has chosen to move on but for the moment has not revealed more details. Neither has he released any information on why he made the decision at a time when he was building a new strategy and new positioning for Vinexpo.

In light of studies and recommendations made by the University of British Columbia (UBC) and KEDGE's Wine & Spirits Academy, the wine industry acted and the Canadian government decided on March 12th to prohibit the use of the statement "Cellared in Canada" (CIC wines) on the labels of wine bottled in Canada but with wines mainly or completely produced abroad. This label, which is mostly used by large Canadian wineries, has been in force since 1995. It has sparked much controversy on the Canadian market because it was a source of considerable confusion for consumers.

The Chinese government implemented new tariffs last week on 128 U.S. products worth $3 billion, including nuts, fruit and wine, in retaliation for a U.S. increase in tariffs on steel and aluminum imports, which took effect in March.
