PRESS RELEASE

Barcelona (May 15, 2014) – Mia, a new line of wines embodying the spirit of Barcelona, will arrive to the U.S. from Spain this June. Mia is the dream of Barcelona winemaker Gloria Collell to marry the extraordinary diversity of grape culture with the freshness and youthful exuberance of her hometown, creating delicious, modern wines that fit with good food and good company.

Born to a family dedicated to the wine business, Collell’s childhood memories revolved around wine, from the aroma of the bodega when the barrels were filled, to helping at wine fairs, to the tastings her family conducted at home. For the past 20 years, she has worked on a number of different projects with the wineries of the Ferrer family of Freixenet fame, from technical departments to export, and when she posed an idea to the Ferrers for a line of young, fresh, easy-drinking wines, the next thing she knew, she was entrusted with the project and given the freedom to develop her vision—Mia was born.

“This is a very personal project for me. Hence the name 'Mia' which means 'mine' in Spanish,” said Collell.

Fueled by her family’s long history of winemaking, her own expertise and the support of the Ferrer family and Freixenet who gave her access to their network of growers, Collell has been able to realize her aspiration to create accessible wines that showcase the best of native grapes and the vibrancy of the Barcelona lifestyle. The Mia line comprises five fruit-driven wines, blends that reflect the style of wine that Collell herself enjoys with family and friends:

· Mia Red 2012 – a fruity and full-bodied red, unoaked to allow the vibrancy of theTempranillo grape to shine (SRP $10)

· Mia White 2013 – a young, aromatic and fruity blend of Macabeo, Xarel-lo, Parellada and Moscatel, with a fresh, tropical character (SRP $10)

· Mia Rosé 2013 – a delicate and floral rosé made with the unusual grape varieties Bobal and Sumoll (SRP $10)

· Mia Moscato – a fruity and sweet sparkling Moscato with freshness and charm (SRP $12)

· Mia Moscato Rosé – a delicately sweet sparkling pink Moscato with lovely floral and tropical aromas (SRP $12)

The packaging of Mia also reflects the character of Collell’s Barcelona, stamped with brightly-colored mosaics that recall the Park Güell works of another city native, Antoni Gaudí.

Ideal for informal celebrations and everyday enjoyment, Mia wines will be introduced in Southern California, Colorado, Texas, Florida and Massachusetts in June, and will roll out nationwide by September 2014
