The Russian River Valley AVA is located within Sonoma County, which is 50 miles north of San Francisco situated between the Mayacamas Mountains to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west. Intense tectonic activity and uplifted geology created a diversity of soils, pure artesian wells, and a perfect vineyard landscape. Where once there was ocean, we now have fog shrouded coastal hills and sunny vineyards nurtured by the cooling influence of the nearby Pacific. In addition to the region’s renowned Pinot Noir, visitors come to enjoy the Russian River Valley’s other award-winning varietal wines – Chardonnay, Zinfandel, Syrah, Pinot Gris and Sauvignon Blanc, among others.

The Russian River Valley Winegrowers is dedicated to maintaining the agricultural diversity of the Russian River Valley while preserving its natural resources and protecting its authentic farming heritage. The hard work and passion of the Board, along with the association’s membership, have been key to the fact that wines produced with Russian River Valley grapes are among the finest in the world. Across the nation, the Russian River Valley is at the top of the list of Sonoma County AVA’s recognized by consumers, and that recognition is spreading world-wide.
