Terlato Wines and Souther Glazer's Wine & Spirits donates $40,00 to the Illinois Restaurant Association Educational Foundation Restaurant Employee Relief Fund
May 28, 2021
What: Terlato Wines and Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits (SGWS) mounted a sales challenge focused on Terlato Vineyards Friuli Pinot Grigio, offering a $40,000 cash donation to the charity of choice for the winning division of SGWS. From 15 markets that competed, the winner was Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits of Illinois and they chose the Illinois Restaurant Association Educational Foundation (IRAEF) Restaurant Employee Relief Fund as their charity recipient. Terlato Vineyards and SGWS presented a $40,000 check to the IRA on May 25.
The IRAEF Restaurant Employee Relief Fund gives $500 grants to individuals in the restaurant industry, in the face of so much struggle during the pandemic. Grants can be used for whatever an individual needs: groceries, rent, childcare, anything.
Why: Tony Terlato – one America’s most influential people in the wine business -- introduced Chicago and America to Pinot Grigio in 1979 and created one of the country’s most respected wine companies, Terlato Wines (based in Lake Bluff, IL). After he died in July 2020, his family created a program to keep his legacy alive, called the Terlato Legacy Program.
When: The check was presented by the Terlato family and Terry Brick of SGWS to Sam
Toia, president and CEO of the Illinois Restaurant Association on May 25.
Who: Bill Terlato, CEO of Terlato Wines, John Terlato, CAO of Terlato Wines, Terry Brick, EVP General Manager of SGWS – IL and Sam Toia, President and CEO of the Illinois Restaurant Association
