Oliver Winery & Vineyards Doubles Geographic Footprint
May 20, 2020
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (May 19, 2020) — Now one of the largest wineries in the U.S. outside of California, Oliver Winery & Vineyards is attracting new audiences with its high-quality, customer-focused approach to winemaking. In 2019, the winery sold more than 505,000 cases of wine, a 19% increase over 2018, and is currently on-track to exceed 2019 sales given recent successes on the wholesale side.
With distribution to 10 new states in 2020 — many in the western U.S. — Oliver will have more than doubled its geographic footprint since 2014. By the end of 2020, consumers can expect to see Oliver wines in select major retailers in Arizona, California, Idaho, Maryland, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Oregon, and Washington.
“Oliver remains focused on sourcing high-quality fruit and doing what we do best — making exceptional wines that continue to surprise people,” said Julie Adams, Oliver Winery president. “There’s an authentic story behind our wines, all of which are approachable and affordable, and we’re excited to be able to meet the growing demand in these new markets.”
A national player in the wine industry, Oliver produces one of the top 20 sweet wines sold in the U.S., according to Nielsen. The company continues to innovate in the industry, with fruit-forward, low-ABV wines, such as its Blueberry Moscato — already the #15 Moscato sold in the U.S. in 2019, after being in stores for only a year. Oliver’s continued success in the sweet wine market has also been driven in part by its Soft Wine Collection, specifically Oliver Sweet Red, which has been the #1 selling wine in Indiana for the last 20 years — earning a total of 56 medals since 2010 and a Best Buy and Gold in the 2016 Mid-America Wine Competition.
With its accelerated growth, the Indiana-based winery was recently named to Shanken’s Market Watch 2019 “Impact HOT Brand Awards,” as well as listed among Nielsen’s “Best of the Best 2019” during the Unified Wine & Grape Symposium.
