The 2020 Vineyard Economics Symposium Moved Online and Attracted its Largest Audience Ever with Attendees from Across the Country
May 08, 2020
Sonoma, Calif. May 8, 2020 -- For the first time in its 25-year history, the Vineyard Economics Symposium was held as a two-day webcast, bringing expert speakers and guidance on vineyard economics, financial issues and grape-growing trends. On May 6-7, 2020, Wine Business Monthly hosted the largest conference yet, bringing in speakers and attendees from California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Texas, New York, Illinois, Nebraska and even British Columbia, Canada.
This new look for the conference also brought about expanded coverage on grapegrowing, vineyard management and the North American winegrape market. Because of the fully digital format, Wine Business Monthly was no longer constrained by speaker and attendee proximity to a venue and built upon the original program to bring in perspectives and ideas from vineyard managers across the country.
Highlights include discussions about the current state of oversupply from Steve Fredricks at Turrentine Brokerage, a review of the current economy and predictions for the future of the marketplace with Margaret Reid at Union Bank, a grape grower panel focused on hot topics with vineyard managers, and best practices about compliance with the new Paycheck Protection Program (PPP).
As part of an effort to support the wider winegrape growing industries in the USA during these challenging times the management of Wine Business Monthly has shared all PowerPoint presentations from this year’s Symposium. The live recording of both half-days is still only available to paid attendees. Everything can be found at www.VineyardEconomics.com.
