San Diego, Calif.—Marina Kitchen, located inside the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina, announces the DAOU Family Estates Wine Dinner to be held on Wednesday, January 8, 2020. Held in Marina Kitchen’s private dining room, the dinner features esteemed Master Sommelier Fred Dame and wines from DAOU Vineyards. The first American to have served as President of the Court of Master Sommeliers Worldwide, Dame brings his remarkable experience and expertise to Marina Kitchen’s celebrated Cellar Dinner Series.

Marina Kitchen is honored to partner with Fred Dame and DAOU Family Estates on the first event in the 2020 Cellar Dinner Series. For its first installment in the series, Executive Chef Aron Schwartz prepares a five-course menu featuring seasonal entrees including braised short rib with kabocha, lobster with wagyu, cranberry beans and poblano butter, and seared Maine diver scallops with parsnip puree, caviar, and truffle jus. Additionally, Master Sommelier Fred Dame pours a selection of DAOU’s highly praised wines, including their 2018 Chardonnay, 2018 Pinot Noir, 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon, and 2016 DAOU Estate “Soul of a Lion.”

DAOU wines have received accolades from a range of premier wine industry publications and critics, including Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, Wine Enthusiast, Wine Spectator, and James Suckling. A sixth-generation Californian, Fred Dame is the standing President of the Guild of Sommeliers Education Foundation, and holds Honorary Professorships at Purdue University and the University of South Carolina. Dame was the first American to pass all three parts of the Master Sommelier Examination in a single year. His accomplishments, too numerous to list in full, include the Krug Cup of the British Guild of Sommeliers, the Antonin Careme Medal, Sante Magazine’s Wine Professional of the Year, Starwine’s Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Bronze Star of Excellence.

DAOU Family Estates Wine Dinner at Marina Kitchen is priced at $165 per person, with an 18% gratuity included. Space is limited to 40 guests and tickets can be purchased here.  Additional Cellar Dinner Series dates and menus will be announced in the forthcoming weeks.
