The wine industry's leading event surrounding innovation is taking place today and tomorrow, May 22 &23. Tickets are still available for purchase online and at the door at Napa Valley's Silverado Resort & Spa.

The fifth annual forum promises to be filled with vital content to help enhance both the winemaking and grapegrowing spheres of the industry.

Celebrate a Wine Inudstry Legend

In honor of a lifetime spent dedicated to the pursuit of quality in the California wine industry, the Wine Business Monthly editorial team and the Innovation + Quality 2019 Advisory Board have named Zelma Long, a visionary in the global winemaking landscape and mentor to some of the industry’s finest winemakers, their Lifetime Innovator Award winner. Long will be honored at IQ 2019 and she will bring her wines to a truly one-of-a-kind tasting featuring ultra-premium wines, and their winemakers, from across the globe.

Keynote Panel and Wine tasting

This year’s IQ keynote speakers include celebrated winemakers Laura Catena, winemaker, Bodega Catena Zapata; Jenny Dobson, managing director, Winetrust; Celia Welch of winemaker, Corra Wines; and Zelma Long, winemaking partner, Vilafonté. They will discuss their trials, challenges and rewards in grapegrowing and winemaking. IQ attendees will have the chance to taste the taste the fruits of their labors and learn, first hand, from these experts’ experiences.

Educational Sessions

Research that Will Change the Way You Make Wine: New research comes along all the time, but what is most applicable to modern, day-to-day winemaking? Attendees will hear about recent research that has immediate relevance to today’s winemakers, and discuss how to utilize this information as quickly as their next vintage.

Climate Change and the Future of Winemaking: Climate change is a hot topic (pun intended) in the wine industry. But do you know what, if any, threat climate change poses to ultra-premium winemaking? This session will discuss how rising temperatures ripening, maturity, alcohol level and resulting wine aesthetic, as well as explore recommended vineyard management and winemaking techniques to counteract the consistently warmer growing seasons.

The Latest Innovations in Technologies and Processes for White Varieties: If you’re a winemaker looking to improve your white wines and are curious what other white winemakers are experimenting with and implementing in their winemaking programs, don’t miss the chance to get insight into the practical applications of some of the newest technologies and interesting ideas to explore within the white winemaking process.

Featured Trials

Understanding that trials are the embodiment of winemakers and grapegrowers pursuits of quality, the editors of Wine Business Monthly have selected 20 trials to feature at this year’s IQ conference. Don't miss the chance to learn—and taste—from your colleague's experiments.
