SALINAS, California – January 4, 2018 – Scheid Family Wines announced today that Young’s Market Company will manage distribution of its wines throughout California. Effective immediately, Young’s will sell Scheid’s full portfolio of wines, including: Scheid Vineyards, District 7, Metz Road, Ranch 32, VDR, Stokes’ Ghost, GIFFT, Ryder Estate, and other exceptional Monterey County wines.
Scheid Family Wines was founded in 1972 when Al Scheid planted his first vineyards in Monterey County. Today, the grapes-to-glass family business owns 11 estate vineyards along a 70-mile stretch of the Salinas Valley. In 2005, the Scheid family built a state-of-the-art winery with a crush capacity of 30,000 tons. The company also built a small Reserve Winery where their luxury-class, limited-production wines are produced. With 4,000 acres of vineyards planted to 39 varieties including 20 distinct clones of Pinot Noir, Scheid Family Wines is positioned to quickly respond to consumer preferences and market demands.
“We are excited to have Young’s Market Company represent our portfolio of estate-bottled wines throughout California,” said Scott Scheid, President and CEO, Scheid Family Wines. “In addition to their expertise, wine knowledge and professionalism, the Young’s sales team has strong relationships with key accounts in important markets. We are confident they will help us increase sales and representation in the state’s top restaurants, retailers, chains and club stores.”
With today’s announcement, Young’s Market Company now represents Scheid Family Wines in California, Oregon, Washington, Montana, Idaho, Hawaii and Alaska.
“One of the things that impressed us most about Young’s Market Company was the quality of their sales team,” said Heidi Scheid, Executive Vice President, Scheid Family Wines. “From day one, they understood the complexity and diversity of Monterey County and appreciated that each of our brands has its own unique profile based on varieties, vineyards and winemaking techniques. We are confident they are the ideal company to help us take our portfolio to market.”
