Scheid Family Wines Announces New Certified Sustainable Designation and Label for 2018 Vintage Release of District 7 Brand

Posted on June 24, 2020

SALINAS, California – June 24, 2020 - Scheid Family Wines of Monterey County, California is proud to announce the release of the 2018 vintage of their District 7 brand, along with a new and more consumer-friendly design that highlights a message of sustainability and the “Monterey style” of each variety.

“The redesigned District 7 label highlights our commitment to sustainability with the addition of the California Certified Sustainable Winegrowing logo and our 100% Powered by Wind designation,” stated Heidi Scheid, Executive VP of Scheid Family Wines. “These two symbols indicate that both the winery and the vineyards are certified sustainable and that our winery operation is powered by renewable wind energy. As dedicated environmental stewards since the company was founded in 1972, we felt it was important to communicate our core value of sustainability directly to our customers.”

“The California wine community, as a whole, has a deep commitment to responsible environmental, business and community practices,” states Allison Jordan, Executive Director of the California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance. “It’s exciting that Scheid Family Wines has opted to certify their vineyards and winery to Certified California Sustainable Winegrowing, and that they are communicating about their sustainability on all District 7 wine labels.”

New on the outside, yet consistent with the brand’s essence on the inside, the 2018 vintage of District 7 offers wines that are fruit forward, true to varietal character and compelling. The Chardonnay label adopts yellow hues, a reflection of the sunshine in the region and subtle buttery notes from aging with oak. The Pinot Noir’s blue-toned label reflects the Monterey Bay and its maritime influence that is a hallmark of the Monterey growing region. The Cabernet’s darker label suggests the robust, rich and earthy taste of the District 7 Cabernet Sauvignon grown in the southernmost part of the county.

Named for the California grape crush district that encompasses Monterey County, District 7 is a brand that truly represents one of the most diverse winegrowing regions in the world with its complex, varied and unique soils and consistent coastal weather patterns. District 7 is a reflection of all that Monterey as a winegrowing region has to offer. Priced at $18 SRP for the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir and $20 SRP for the Cabernet Sauvignon, District 7 wines offer immense value. They are available for purchase directly on the new District 7 website – www.district7wines.com. District 7 and Scheid Family Wines are proud to provide high quality wines that are certified sustainable from grapes to glass.
