Francis Ford Coppola Winery Releases Directors Cut 2014 Technicolor

Posted on September 13, 2016

GEYSERVILLE, Calif. (September 13, 2016) – Francis Ford Coppola Winery and Technicolor, the worldwide technology leader in the media and entertainment sector, have partnered on a new, limited edition wine celebrating two of life’s greatest forms of entertainment – film and wine. In the film business, the “Director’s Cut” emerged as a means for filmmakers to present their own creative vision of a story. Francis Ford Coppola Winery created Director’s Cut wines as a way for wine “director” Corey Beck to craft wines that would reflect his own unique interpretation of the quintessential Sonoma wine. With its beautifully reflective label, the Directors Cut 2014 Technicolor represents both art forms blending together Malbec, Syrah, Petite Sirah, Merlot, Cabernet and Zinfandel.

“Even as a kid, I knew TECHNICOLOR offered the most beautiful movie color process,” said Francis Ford Coppola. “The Technicolor process, I learned, was similar to lithography whereby primary colors were actually printed on the clear celluloid. For me, Technicolor was the standard of color for all movies. Director’s Cut Technicolor wine celebrates artistry in film and wine, two of life’s greatest forms of entertainment.”

Beck’s vision for Director’s Cut embraces appellation-specific sourcing, meticulous fruit selection, and numerous blending trials so that the wines capture the distinct nuances of Sonoma’s micro-climates in a highly refined style well-suited to fine cuisine. With most of the grapes sourced from Dry Creek Valley, close to the Russian River, the 2014 Technicolor demonstrates exceptional balance and a wonderful concentration of dark fruit aromas with a spicy, ripe tone.

The Director's Cut 2014 Technicolor has a suggested retail price of $29.99 and may be purchased at limited restaurants and retailers, including Whole Foods, Rustic, Cafe Zoetrope, and at Francis Ford Coppola Winery, while supplies last.
