Super Tuscan Producer Aia Vecchia Introduces First Rosé Wine: Solidio Rosato IGT Toscana

(April 18, 2016; Napa, CA)—Elia Pellegrini, owner of Aia Vecchia, a small family-owned winery located deep in the Tuscan countryside between Bolgheri and Castagneto Carducci, is pleased to introduce Solidio Rosato IGT Toscana ($14), the first rosé to be added to the winery's portfolio. Solidio Rosato is 90% Sangiovese and 10% Merlot, sourced from vineyards in Magliano in Toscana and Orbetello. Aia Vecchia's small portfolio of wines also includes two Super Tuscan red blends and a Vermentino from Maremma.

"As a fourth-generation, family run winery, we know the importance of maintaining a relevant and fresh face in the market," says owner Elia Pellegrini. "The popularity of rosé has increased exponentially and Solidio gives us an opportunity to be a part of this growing wine trend."

Aia Vecchia has 104 acres of vineyards split between two estates in Bolgheri and Maremma on the Mediterranean coast. The winery focuses on Bordeaux varietals such as Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, which are used to produce Lagone and Sor Ugo. The Vermentino and the new Solidio Rosato are made from the estates of Magliano in Toscana (Grosseto) and Orbetello (Grosseto), which consist of 50 acres planted to Sangiovese, Merlot, Viognier and Vermentino.
