Francis Ford Coppola Unveils Vendetta
Francis Ford Coppola announced today the addition of the newest red blend in the winery’s expansive arsenal – the 2013 Vendetta. Forged in the back rooms and secret alleyways of a bygone era, Vendetta’s bold full-bodied blend of Cabernet Sauvignon from California’s Mendocino County and Malbec from Monterey County is reminiscent of the Prohibition-age of which it was inspired.
"I don't know how much I'm permitted to say about this. Knock three times and whisper ‘Vendetta,’ the wine whose name you can't say in public. Don't talk about Vendetta, drink it,” said Francis Coppola.
A blend of 66% Cabernet Sauvignon from Mendocino County and 34% Malbec from Monterey County, Vendetta’s inaugural vintage is abundantly spicy with notes of pepper and toasted wood, boasting juicy fruit, a velvety mouthfeel and supple tannins. Its intriguing nose of lavender, leather and graphite blends with rich layers of cassis, cherries and wild raspberries make Vendetta concentrated yet elegant, mysterious yet inviting.
“Francis has always enjoyed telling a good story. A vendetta is just that – a decades-long story that has many aspects and dramatic components,” said Corey Beck, Francis Ford Coppola Winery’s President and Director of Winemaking. “Francis has explored this theme in many of his projects, and this is just the latest. It’s a great wine in a creative package.”
The 2013 Vendetta retails for $24.95 SRP and may be purchased at participating restaurants and retailers or at the winery.
