Jim Regusci, a third-generation rancher and vintner, was just about to turn in late on October 8 when a friend called and said a fire was heading his way. Regusci called in bulldozers and labor to help fight the fire along with his children, son-in-law and vineyard manager; they would spend the next four hours fighting to keep the Atlas Fire from destroying their homes and ranch. Fire photos were taken by Jim’s wife, Laura Regusci.
