Rhone Rangers to host Grenache Webinar

September event to highlight wineries from throughout the USA.
Sep 4, 2024

The Rhone Rangers invite you to join moderator Larry Schaffer, Vice President of the Rhone Rangers and owner/winemaker of Tercero Wines, for a complimentary Rhone Rangers webinar highlighting Grenache wines from throughout the USA on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, from 4:00pm – 5:15pm PT.

"The heart of the Rhone Rangers organization and its members is education, and this Zoom is a great example of this. We will have six wineries represented - from Ojai, Paso Robles, Lodi, Sonoma, and Southern Oregon - featuring Grenache, the main red grape of Chateauneuf du Pape and one of the most versatile of the Rhone varieties. We will have various examples of wines made with this noble variety - from a sparkling Grenache to three red Grenaches highlighting very different geographic regions," noted Schaffer.

Featured Rhone Rangers, their wines and regions include: Chris Kern of PasoSecco Winery (2023 Sparkling Grenache Blanc - El Pomar District, Paso Robles), Carl Bowker of Caliza Winery (2023 Grenache Blanc - Paso Robles), Christina Lopez of Acquiesce Winery & Vineyards (2023 Grenache Rose - Mokelumne River, Lodi), Kathy O'Leary of Long Walk Vineyard (2021 Grenache - Rogue Valley, Oregon),
Adam Tolmach of The Ojai Vineyard (2022 Grenache - John Sebastiano Vineyard, Sta. Rita Hills), and Sam Coturri of Winery Sixteen 600 (2021 Grenache - Rossi Ranch, Sonoma Valley).

To register for the complimentary webinar, please visit www.rhonerangers.org or view on Facebook Live via @rhonerangers. All viewers are invited to purchase wine direct from the featured wineries to taste along during the panelist's presentation. Links to each individual winery's website stores are available on the Rhone Rangers event page.

About Rhone Rangers

In the early-1980's several maverick American winemakers and wine growers began experimenting with Rhone-style wines. By the mid-80's this group of California Rhone producers were informally meeting to share winemaking information and insight. This group went on to formally organize in 1998 as a 501 c (6) non-profit organization with a mission to educate and promote the enjoyment and production of the Rhone varietal wine grapes. Known as the Rhone Rangers, they are a group of 120+ wineries throughout the United States dedicated to making wines from the 22 traditional grape varieties approved by the French government for the Côtes du Rhône, as well as Durif (Petite Sirah). With a mission to educate and promote American Rhone varietal wines, the organization holds special events throughout the year to raise funds for the Rhone Rangers Educational Programs and Scholarships, which benefit students studying viticulture, enology, and wine business.
