PCs proposal would allow sale of beer, wine in P.E.I. corner stores
P.E.I.'s Progressive Conservative Party has pledged to allow convenience stores to sell beer and wine on the Island. Leader Dennis King couldn't give a timeline as to when the change would happen if his party formed government, but said they would get to work right away if elected.

Canada's wine industry cheers loosening of interprovincial booze rules
Winemakers are toasting a pledge in last week's federal budget to loosen interprovincial barriers around wine sales, while also hoping - with an election on the way - that the promise doesn't die on the vine. The Liberals' pre-election budget promised to remove the requirement that alcohol moving from one province to another must be sold or consigned to a provincial liquor authority. Provinces and territories would still to be able to regulate the sale and distribution of alcohol within their borders, the budget said.

2018 Global Wine Sales Volume Fell While E-Commerce And Cash Value Grew
According to the Rabobank report, in the final quarter of 2018 online wine sales across Western Europe accounted for 4% of sales overall (the United Kingdom represented 10% of the total online volume). The 4% growth e-commerce is impressive on its own, but the report also says that between 2010-2017 Western European wine consumption fell by 5% yet e-commerce increased by 66%.

Two-way trade with CPTPP countries nears $50 billion
The CPTPP is a free trade agreement between New Zealand and 10 other countries in the Pacific region. Canada, Australia, Mexico, Japan, Singapore, Viet Nam, and New Zealand have ratified the trade agreement, with four countries (Brunei Darussalam, Chile, Malaysia, and Peru) yet to do so. Goods and services exported to CPTPP countries totalled $24.4 billion, and imports totalled $25.2 billion. New Zealand is close to a trade balance with the CPTPP countries as a group.
