Imported wine, cider now allowed on B.C. grocery shelves
B.C.'s Ministry of the Attorney General said the policy came into effect this week, starting July 8. This means imported wines may be sold on grocery store shelves where grocery stores are licensed to sell wine. It said it is up to each individual grocery store to decide whether or not to choose to sell imported wines, calling it a "business decision."

Licensed B.C. grocery stores can now stock imported wine on their shelves
Wine aficionados picking out a bottle from one of B.C.'s grocery stores licensed to carry the beverage on their shelves may soon notice a little more selection. Last week, the B.C. government amended regulations that had, until now, allowed only B.C. wines on the shelf.

Arterra Wines Canada, Inc. (AWC) announced today they have closed a deal to acquire Culmina Family Estate Winery a premium boutique winery, founded in 2007 by Don and Elaine Triggs. Don and Elaine are planning for retirement, but will be supporting the transition over the next several months. Sara, their daughter, will be joining AWC as Sales and Marketing Director in continued support of the vision, strategy and planning for Culmina.

Wine Set to Flow Freely Between Canada's Provinces
Canada's wines may flow unimpeded between provinces, thanks to an omnibus bill passed on June 21, just as Canada's parliament prepared to adjourn for the summer. The bill overturned the provisions of the Importation of Intoxicating Liquors Act of 1928 that delegated control of liquor to Canada's provinces and territories. It allowed them to set the terms under which liquor could be imported into their jurisdictions

Canada's Federal Interprovincial Shipping Restriction Eliminated After 91 Years
On Friday, June 21st, Bill C-97 (the 2019 Budget Implementation Act) was given Royal Assent, which means that the Bill became law in Canada. One of the sections of this Bill amended the Importation of Intoxicating Liquors Act so as to completely remove the federal restriction on the interprovincial shipment and transport of alcohol which has been in place since 1928. As a result of these changes, there is no longer any federal prohibition on the movement of alcohol between provinces. Customers of wineries (or of other alcohol shippers) may still be subject to any relevant provincial laws ...
