Hahn Family Wines announced the promotion of Tony Baldini from general manager to president, overseeing all aspects of sales and marketing, winemaking and brand development for the growing family wine company with nine brands, including Hahn Estate, Smith & Hook and Cycles Gladiator.
Baldini replaces Bill Leigon, who is departing the company after more than a decade at the helm to pursue a new opportunity within the wine industry.
“In many ways, Bill made Hahn what it is today, providing the leadership and dedication required to revamp and impressively grow our Hahn brands, Smith & Hook, Cycles Gladiator, and a promising new wine called Boneshaker,“ said Phillip Hahn, chairman of Hahn Family Wines. “Bill will be missed, but Hahn Family Wines is fortunate that the team he was instrumental in building and has served the company so well in the past will be remaining to manage us going forward, especially his talented replacement Tony Baldini,” he added.
Tony Baldini joined Hahn Family Wines in 2011 as general manager overseeing operations at Hahn Estate in the Santa Lucia Highlands and their sister winery Cycles Gladiator in Lodi. Prior to Hahn, Tony managed luxury brands for Constellation Wines, including Franciscan Estate and Mount Veeder Winery, as well as their Cellar Door portfolio of ultra-premium and domestic and imported wine brands. Before that, he managed the entire range of wines at Don Sebastiani & Sons and was a director of marketing for Artisans & Estates, part of Jackson Wine Estates. Baldini earned a B.A. in economics from the University of California at Davis and a Masters in business administration from the University of California at Berkeley, Haas School of Business.
About Hahn Family Wines
Hahn Family Wines was established by Nicolaus (“Nicky”) and Gaby Hahn in the late 1970’s when they purchased land in Monterey County. Soon after, they released their first vintage of Smith & Hook Cabernet Sauvignon to high acclaim. In 1988, sensing the potential of the region, Nicky Hahn became a catalyst for the Santa Lucia Highlands (SLH) appellation by spearheading efforts to establish an American Viticulture Area (AVA) for this wine growing region. Today Hahn Family Wines owns one of the largest shares of planted vines in the region with more than 650 SLH vineyard acres that range in elevation from 200 to 1,200 feet and offer a diverse selection of terroir for producing Pinot Noir and other varietals. These wines are made to fit any occasion or celebration, from everyday wines for dinner to a complex, elegant vineyard-designate Pinot Noir perfect for cellaring or toasting some of life’s biggest milestones. Hahn Family Wines includes Hahn Winery, Hahn SLH Estate, and Lucienne.
In addition to their Hahn Estate property and winery facility, the company also produces several brands out of their winery facility and visitor’s center near Lodi, including Cycles Gladiator and Boneshaker.
