Block Party Returns to Red Mountain Sept. 27; Winemaker Dinners Added
RED MOUNTAIN, BENTON CITY, Wash.—Red Mountain AVA Alliance and Trysk Print Solutions present the third annual Red Mountain AVA Block Party on Sept. 27, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. New this year will be exclusive winemaker dinners (10 – 20 guests each) held on the Friday evening before Block Party. Called Red Mountain Rendezvous, the dinners offer an even more personal experience with Red Mountain wines and how they are crafted. Participation requires a separate ticket purchase.
This year will see the addition of five new participants: Auclair Winery; Force Majeure, a Woodinville-based winery with vineyards on Red Mountain; Henry Earl Estates; Upchurch Vineyard; and Duckhorn Vineyards, a Napa Valley winery and vineyard new to Red Mountain.
"Duckhorn's tradition of focusing on the highest quality fruit and terroir led us to Red Mountain where we join another great winemaking tradition,” said Brian Rudin, Duckhorn’s Canvasback winemaker. “I'm looking forward to telling the Duckhorn story and talking about what makes Red Mountain so ideally suited to cultivating world-class Cabernet."
Activities ranging from exclusive vineyard tours, rare libraried wine tastings, unusual food pairings, a food and wine “dating game,” talks on how to start a winery and more.
“Red Mountain is really a hidden gem adjacent to the Tri-Cities. I’ve lived in many communities that wished they had something world-class to celebrate – we do,” said John Dobken, Block Party chair. “It’s these grapes and the wine that is made from them. If you’re a wine lover, this is an event not to be missed.”
This will be the last year to actually experience the event with the “block party” name. Next year, the full weekend of events will be named “Red Mountain Rendezvous.”
“We wanted to better reflect the experience of this event, as a more intimate opportunity to come together and share what makes Red Mountain so special,” said Heather Unwin, Red Mountain AVA Alliance executive director.
The event aims to create a gathering of wine lovers and winemakers, grape growers and friends during the prime-time of harvest. Last year’s event brought more than 350 wine explorers to Red Mountain, traveling from New Jersey, Texas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and all over the Pacific Northwest.
Trysk Print Solutions enthusiastically agreed to return as the Block Party’s title sponsor.
