Sausalito, CA (August 5, 2013) – Vine Connections, the nation’s leading Argentine wine importer, is excited to announce the arrival of the Crios Limited Edition Red Blend.
The introduction of the Limited Edition Red Blend not only brings a new twist to the hot red blend category, but a new twist to the Crios portfolio. This artisan blend, with 40 percent Malbec, 40 percent Bonarda, 15 percent Tannat, and 5 percent Syrah, is made in limited quantity and is a one-time only blend.
José Lovaglio, head winemaker for the Crios brand, loves the inspiration of creating a new blend based on what the vintage brings. “I love exploring other varietals beyond the Malbec. At the winery, we’ve seen great success and interest in blends like BenMarco Expresivo and Susana Balbo Brioso. I wanted to create a unique Crios blend with the same idea,” says Lovaglio.
“People assume Argentina only produces great Malbecs, but that’s not the case. Crios continues to be on the forefront of Argentine winemaking and has created huge successes in Torrontés and Rosé of Malbec. Expect to see other unique limited edition wines from Crios in the future,” says Ed Lehrman, co-founder of Vine Connections.
The 2012 Crios Limited Edition Red Blend also introduces a fresh new look for the Crios label. The easy-to-recognize Crios hand, which represents Susana Balbo and her children Ana and José, has a new design and the texture of a fingerprint.
The Crios Limited Edition Red Blend is imported to the U.S. exclusively by Vine Connections and is available now in all 50 states until it sells out. Suggested retail price is $15.
Legendary winemaker Susana Balbo created the award-winning Dominio del Plata winery, which proudly represents the Crios, BenMarco, Susana Balbo Signature Wines, and Nosotros brands. From every harvest, the winery makes a rigorous selection of the finest barrels prior to making the final blends, dividing them into the parents (reserve level wines) and offspring or "crios". Wines under the Crios label display ripe fruit flavors, excellent balance and concentration, and are meant to be enjoyed in their vibrant youth. These wines are produced under Dominio del Plata's code of sustainable agriculture. The labels feature a series of three connected and overlapping hands, an image inspired by a Mayan artifact. The artifact illustrates the interconnectedness of every generation, and the irony that we will be both the parent and the offspring at different times in our lives.
