Handcrafted Wines of Kansas, a family-owned fine wine distributorship announced today the appointment of Peter Angell as sales manager, along with Donald Brain III joining as general manager effective March 1, 2013.

Peter (PJ) Angell brings a significant breadth of commercial experience to Handcrafted Wines, including building leading-edge wine portfolios and sales teams throughout his 13 year career in the wine industry. Most recently he served as the regional manager for Chateau Julien, responsible for building dozens of markets across the Midwest. Prior to that Angell was sales manager for Standard Beverage, and delivered breakthrough results. He will be responsible for all commercial activities, supplier relations, and portfolio development. Angell brings a B.S. from University of Kansas City and resides in Shawnee.
Donald Brain III is enjoying returning to Kansas to assume the general manager responsibilities of Handcrafted Wines after a period of time with a mergers and acquisition firm in Napa Valley, at Global Wine Partners where he specialized in providing strategic advice on mergers and acquisitions. He started his career with KPMG and later founded an innovative online company. In this entrepreneurial role, Brain III was responsible for developing and implementing all strategic marketing decisions. He graduated from Loyola University of Chicago with a B.S in accounting. Following KPMG, Donald earned his MBA from the University of Missouri. He will be responsible for all aspects of operations and finance for the company.
Concurrent with these announcements, Matthew David has left the company to pursue other interests. Handcrafted Wines thanks David for his contributions to the business.
In another important development, Handcrafted is enhancing its storage and logistic capabilities by moving to a larger temperature controlled, full-service warehouse facility, located in Olathe, Kansas in April 2013.
