San Antonio Winery Earns Victory in Stella Rosa Trademark Litigation
San Antonio Winery Inc. announced that a legal injunction was granted yesterday prohibiting global giant, Constellation Brands, from selling its "Rosatello" wine with specific packaging that San Antonio claims is too similar to its popular "Stella Rosa" product line. The order by Judge Kronstadt of the U.S. Central District of California marks a significant milestone in the Los Angeles-based winery's mission to protect the brand image of its "Stella Rosa" trademark.

Arizona: State Senate Passes Liquor Omnibus Bill
There are currently almost 90 licensed and bonded wineries in Arizona, some of which buy grapes and make wine; others grow grapes and sell to winemakers; and there are a few who grow and produce wine in their own facilities. In any of these cases, the producers of Arizona wine are no doubt happy with this week's passage of SB 1397, nicknamed the Liquor Omnibus.

Arizona bill would allow winemakers to distill from grape leftovers
fter his Cornville winery squeezes the last drop from its grape harvest, Arizona law requires Eric Glomski to throw away the hundreds of pounds of skin, pulp, seeds and stems left behind. Many wineries beyond Arizona are allowed to distill this collection of byproducts, known as fruit pomace, into spirits such as brandy, cognac, cider and grappa, an Italian brandy. Adding those products to its line would be a boon to Page Springs Cellars' business, said Glomski, the winery's founder and director of winemaking.

Utah: House panel questions bill on alcohol distilleries
A bill proposing to treat alcohol distilleries in Utah the same as wineries and breweries ran dry in a House committee Wednesday. Members of the House Business and Labor Committee didn't want to expand a state law governing those outlets because they say it's confusing and flawed. The law doesn't address distilleries.
