David Schildknecht has announced that he'll be leaving The Wine Advocate at the end of June 2014. A formal announcement from The Wine Advocate is expected in the next several hours.

"The opportunity and challenge of working with Robert Parker and his iconic journal, and of reporting from so many far-flung parts of the world has been a tremendous honor for which I thank him and my readers," wrote the Cincinnati-based writer. Schildknecht assured that until July 1 his reports from Austria, Alsace, the Languedoc, and the Loire will continue to be published.

Stephan Reinhardt of Germany, formerly the editor of Swiss-owned Vinum magazine, has been tipped to assume Schildknecht's duties: Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Champagne, Alsace, Loire.
