"I can provide you with information on two studies and recycling proposals. There is a hugh surplus of glass bottles to recycle to the extent that ground glass is being used as aggragate for roadway paving. There are over 450 different wine bottles currently in use and each winery wants its signature bottle. Makes it vitually empossible to refill the bottle for reuse.

"It takes more carbon energy to grind and melt the glass into a new bottle than it does to make one from raw material. The newest most advanced bottle making equipment is being used in China almost totally automated and they can give you a bottle at a landed cost of between 25 & 35 cents each."
