Job Description:

Job Summary: The Tasting Room Manager role oversees the daily operations of the Tasting Experiences at Charles Krug Winery. This role sets the tone for professionalism and gives the guidance necessary to create one of the best tasting experiences in Napa Valley. This role provides proactive management of all aspects of Tasting Room operations. The TR Manager is responsible for the profitability of the TR and related operations. This role has P&L responsibility, manages expenses, ensures inventory accuracy and develops a team that passionately promotes the winery brand. We aspire to establish Charles Krug as one of the premiere winery destinations in Wine Country. We will effectively maintain high standards of performance in all areas, including but not limited to: customer service and experiences, meeting/exceeding sales and budget goals, management of winery hospitality events, visual presentation of the tasting room consistent with the Charles Krug brand image and ensuring on-going training and development of all personnel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include but not limited to the following:)
•  Successfully manage all aspects of tasting room operations: sales plans and initiatives, customer service, inventory accuracy, cash reconciliation, profitability, operating expenses, staff hiring, training and development of staff, and hospitality events.
•  Provide clear, on-going communication to staff through consistent and timely direction, establishing specific and clearly communicated performance goals, and delivering meaningful regular performance check-ins as directed by Human Resources.
•  Develop and maintains a consistent, reliable means of monitoring tasting room performance through delivery of monthly sales and reports. Monitor sales trends and budget, adjusting business strategies as needed to meet target revenue and profitability goals.
•  Partner with wine club to achieve wine club sign up and data collection goals.
•  Creative thinking to promote the Charles Krug brand, increase foot traffic, wine and club sales, by regularly planning and executing business development events and outreach strategies.
•  Evaluate effectiveness of programs by performing periodic reviews and auditing customer feedback on a regular basis. Implement changes as needed to reach plan and objectives.
•  Inspire, motivate, coach, train, and develop staff so they meet sales goals and represent the highest level of expertise available in the wine industry with an emphasis on customer service, wine education, unparalleled hospitality.
•  Execute hospitality events and visitor programs in a manner that is well organized, within budget and consistent with marketing direction on brand image.
•  Work collaboratively and effectively with all departments within DTC and the rest of the company.
•  Create daily/weekly/monthly incentives for staff
•  Possess commanding knowledge of eCellars POS system including ability to effectively perform opening and closing procedures and trouble shoot issues.
•  Provide management with timely sale reports, club reports, visitation data, and other metrics as needed.
•  Carryout all responsibilities in accordance with company polices and applicable state and federal laws.
•  Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications (work experience, preferred skills and education):
•  College degree in business/retail management, hospitality or wine marketing, or
equivalent experience strongly preferred.
•  Minimum of five years supervisory experience, ideally in sales focused organizations, required.
•  Three to five years of prior relevant retail tasting room or consumer direct sales experience required.
•  Understand how to sell and enhance a luxury brand.
•  Exceptional people and sales skills. Strong rapport-building with both customers and the community.
•  Excellence in creating and providing guest experiences in keeping with winery’s core values and brand image.
•  Ability to handle stressful and chaotic situations while remaining calm and service focused.
•  Demonstrated ability to achieve sales goals with the ability to accurately forecast and plan via sound business analysis.
•  Ability to develop and execute new plans and programs.
•  Demonstrated ability to effectively train, manage and motivate teams.
•  Knowledge of wine, wine production and the wine industry.
•  Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
•  Ability to work and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, while maintaining a high level of detail is required.
•  Strong work ethic with ability to take initiative, work independently, and be self-directed.
•  Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills demonstrated by the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
•  Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
•  Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook at an intermediate level is required. Excel skills to include monthly sales summaries and budgets.
•  Functional understanding of CRM and POS systems. Experience with eCellars preferred.
•  Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds.
•  Must be available to work a flexible schedule including weekends.
•  Must have a valid Driver’s License.
•  Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.

Salary Range: $75,000 - $90,000 per Wine Industry Compensation Survey and depends on experience of candidate.
